Repeatedly dropping into limp mode when lugging or drop a gear to pick up speed.I drive regularly to Spain(3000 miles round)and it occurred about 40 times.Really.Rectified at the time by ignition on then off.3 different ford dealers and an AA man have put it on their diagnostic machines. All say no fault indicated.Well there must be!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Paul, If the EML has been on at some point there will be a DTC stored.

Many generic code readers (even good ones) will not always read Ford specific DTC's. You need to get a laptop and download FORScan and connect with the new vLinker FS cable. Then you will be able to see whats going on.

FORScan (free for laptops): https://forscan.org/download.html

vLinker FS cable: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-vLinker-Adapter-FORScan-MS-CAN/dp/B0952P4MLP/ref=asc_df_B0952P4MLP/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=534732308385&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14752247421085634667&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006688&hvtargid=pla-1430824679036&psc=1

And just to add, keep the equipment in the car so that when it happens again you can plug in straight away, while the fault is active. You should get codes then
