Rear brake hose replacements

Featured Replies

Hi! A relatives car, identical to mine in all relevant detail, had an advisory for rusting rear brake hoses on their previous MOT (1.1.12(b)).

I'm looking to source some replacements and would appreciate confirmation that I'm looking at the right products, since the listings on autodoc are a little confusing.

Filtering down the autodoc listings for the vehicle to rear axle items and selecting one manufacturer - Bosch - gave three items, two of which specify they are for disc brake setups, while the other says for drum brakes, so it seems the latter is the one I'm after (Bosch BH1378). This seems to be 380mm in length.

But if I follow the OEM code links from that product page (1306241 and 1405494) this brings up various other listings with different lengths (e.g. 407mm, 410mm), and with some of them stating "for vehicles without ABS"...errr?

Your car does have ABS

Yes I know. I mean that I don't know the part number to look for, and it's confusing when following a part number from one product gives products with a variety of different specs when you'd expect them to all match, and it's confusing for some such items to be stating things like "for vehicles without ABS" when others say nothing about ABS and with the site stating "this fits your vehicle" when this conflicts with the fact that the vehicle has ABS. I'm left entirely uncertain whether or not the item I've picked is actually correct..

I can’t answer the question but have you inspected the brake hoses? Mot testers have wildly varying standards for advisories.   I would want to see them myself before I bought any replacements .

No I've not had a good opportunity to actually look at them myself yet. I'm just trying to get a handle on pricing and such in advance.
