Titanium X Electric Seat Repeatedly Blowing A Fuse

Featured Replies

My partner has a 2015 Ford Focus which she loves, however, it has developed a fault where the electric seat keeps blowing a fuse. It is when you adjust the reclining position, going forward is okay, but as soon as it goes backwards, it blows. I'm guessing since the fuse is a 25A with no load, since it blows when the seat is empty, that a short is causing the problem.

Knowing a bit about electrics and motors, I'm guessing the switch merely reverses polarity of the supplied voltage to the motor in order to get it to go in the opposite direction, therefore the short is within the switch circuit.

My questions are: Does anyone had a wiring diagram to confirm that this would be the case, as opposed to the motor, and does anyone know of part numbers for the switch? The seat is fully electric, so up, down, back and forth, tilt forward and backwards.

Cheers.

Here is the seat schematic for the Focus

Thanks for that, it confirms that it has to be the switch which is shorting out, as opposed to the motor. Just need to find out how much the seat switch is and how to replace it. 🙂
