mk4 Child Locks

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a mk4..  Can i have just the rear driver's side door unlocked so my wife can get in and out whilst the other side is locked in my little boy not to open?

i have moved the small black cover for the child lock and tried moving the white plastic key part to its 2 positions and all 1 position does is unable me to open the door from the outside. Once put back the door will open.

I also have used the button on the driver's door to disable the locks and windows but that controls both rear doors and windows.

The mk3 focus i had you can just easily enable and disable the lock from the child lock point.

Hi Gurpal, first quick point you need to update your profile so we can see what model and year car you have now.

Most of the Focus Mk4's are fitted with electric remote child locks which are operated by the switch on the drivers door. On these models it disables the locks (and windows) on both rear doors. There is no option available to do only one side. Probably something that Ford overlooked when fitting the new system !

The white plastic lock that is fitted to both rear doors and the front passenger door is only for emergency use in the event that the central locking system fails. It allows you to manually lock each individual door (they can still be opened from the inside).
