genuine cat

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know roughly how much a genuine cat would cost for my 2006 focus 1.6 ti-vct, thanks

Looks like it's part of the exhaust manifold See Here

Just call your local ford Parts Department for a price.

just rang ford, £828 plus vat, £243 X 4 lamba sensors £1965, ouch

Yes, there's two cats, crazy

Do you know why you are being told you need to replace both cats?

it comes as one complete unit

It may do, but what's up with it?

ive had the oxgen sensor replaced code p0156 on sensor 2, bank 2 which didnt turn the engine light off, i now have a p0056 code on bank 2 as well as the p0156, my local garage said it could be the cat, car drives fine, just the fault codes, if i erase them, within a few miles it comes back on again, I have had no end of electrical issues with this car

Replacing the cat sounds like an expensive gamble based on someone thinking it might be the cat.  You say you have had no end of electrical issues.  If the problem is an electrical issue then replacing the cat won’t fix it.  If replacing the cat fixes it then it wasn’t an electrical issue. Has anyone done an exhaust emission test on it to see if emissions are too high? Has anyone analysed live readings from all of the gas sensors to see if that narrows it down.  I sympathise with you. If emissions are within mot standard and the light stays off for a while each time fault codes are cleared, make sure you clear codes just before mot.  I suspect a lot of cars are scrapped when there isn’t really anything wrong other than temperamental eml. I know it’s annoying having the light coming on.

turned my light off today as it had its mot, passed with flying colours

That’s good so if it was mine I would carry on driving and not spend any money on the intermittent problem

Exactly

I know from my father-in-law's 2011 Focus, it doesn't like rubbish fuel, if he goes to Morrison's the light comes on

i use my local jet garage

Exactly

the emissions where fine, when straight throw mot

This is my genuine cat, chilling out on my Focus Mk2 parcel shelf. Being a rescue cat, she was fairly economical to obtain, but costs a fortune to maintain, and emissions can be an issue!
