Hesitation

Featured Replies

Good afternoon, I have a 2010 1.8 diesel zetec mondeo and have slight issue .. when I accelerate in 3rd 4th and 5th gear I get a slight hesitation between 1500 and 2000 revs then after that it goes like a rocket .. I have just had the fuel filter changed but its still doing it, any suggestions on what I can try next .. cheers

DPF blocked maybe?

I know it's a pain to many due to usage, I don't know if you do short runs, mixed or what, but if it's not getting hot enough it won't burn it off fully, and repeated runs with the same result will build up on it, I was tempted to get another diesel, and many said it would just need a good long run out once a month to counter short runs building up, no idea if this is the issue here, but it's a possibility.

May not be this with your car, but I had a diesel which sometimes hesitated at 1600 - 1900 rpm and it was a dirty MAF sensor. Usually it's not a difficult job to clean them.  Or maybe even try a brand new sensor if they are relatively cheap?

But you might be better off going down the diagnosis route first to pinpoint the problem.

If I'm correct , i believe my model doesn't have the dpf on it but I could be wrong , I do alot of short journeys tbh so maybe a good hour run down the motorway may help

Will a faulty mafs throw up a EML , I have taken it off and sprayed it with contact cleaner and have also blanked of the EGR valve but still have the issue

Maybe - I'm not sure. It will certainly light the EML if you disconnect it (ask me how I know!).  Mine ran better with the MAF sensor disconnected.

My MAF sensor being dirty did NOT light up the EML.  Sounds as though you have tried the easy fix but it hasn't worked. Time for a diagnostic check, IMHO.
