ECU Nightmare

Featured Replies

Hi. Im looking to get some help/advice reguarding a problem with my cars ECU.

I own a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium X.

It's got a 1.6 150bhp engine.

It recently broke down. The ignition would turn on but would not turnover and start. Its now at my local garage who have diagnosed the problem to be water ingress in my ECU.

Ford decided it would be a great idea to fit the ecu behind the front wheel arch liner. They put it in a protective box that wasn't very protective due to only being screwed half way round. The half that isn't screwed together has now opened up and got water in.

Obviously I'm now in need of a new ECU which is gonna cost me an absolute fortune. Then would need to be programmed which is also going to cost a fortune.

My local garage tell me they have tried to get the ecu repaired at a few places but with no joy. Apparently my ECU is rare due to the engine size or bhp ? And places don't have the capability / test rig to test it or do the job.

I was wondering if anyone on here knows of anywhere that could repair it or if anyone knows where I could get a used / reconditioned one.

I'm just trying to save myself some money before I have to order a brand new one which I'm told I won't get until at least February

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

Assuming it's petrol 1.6 Ecoboost 150hp.

May 0 261 S07 701 (0261S07701) be suitable? Some can be found by Google, but might be originated for C-MAX.

Have you or your garage contacted to these?
