Fiesta tyre pressure sensor not detected

Featured Replies

Hi

tyre pressure sensor not detected.

On my fiesta zetec s i have had the warning light come on 5 miles after hitting a big pot hole.I have reset it to take the warning light off but it came back on the next day

Would the tyres pressure sensor be damaged or would it be frozen from the weather we have been recently having.where I live it’s been -10

I’ve checked all the tyre valves and they look okay and my tyres where changed last year so that I know they where not damaged by the tyre fitter.

The batteries inside the tyre sensors have a life expectancy of between 7 & 10 years. Extreme cold also reduces the batteries power especially when they are old.

Are the sensors on your car still the original factory fitted ones ?

I would wait till the temperature rises next week (some areas will go back to +13c!). If it still is causing an issue, then start 'fixing' it...

How would I go fixing it , would do it myself but I haven’t got the tools to do it

can o take it a tyre place , garage or the main dealers

The tire will need to come off, KwikFit, or similar will be able to do it for you...

Does anyone know how much it is to replace a tyre pressure sensor ??

I've just had a hell of a time trying to do one on mine, but with the help here I got one in the end, not sure if it's working right yet or not, but given my experience forget going to Ford's site, it's a waste of space and inaccurate for far too many things, I paid about £30 I think it was, go direct to the local Ford dealer and have a word with their spares department, you don't have a choice about which bit to get, they sell them with valves only, but you can get valves separately, just not the sensors, then take it to a tyre place and they will fit it (check they do TPMS first), and they should fit it easily and cheap enough.

The guy's here will have much more knowledge than me on this, and may know better, but it's very confusing when trying to understand why there are so many contradictions in what is required, as some sensors will auto update after driving a short distance, others need to be programmed (this messed with my head big time), your local dealer's spares person should be able to tell you for sure if they are good at their job, and worst case if it does need programming Ford can do this via Wi-Fi connecting to it wirelessly.

So I went with the drive and see if it updates route (which the parts guy said it should, as do many here), but I asked the parts guy 'What If...' and he said ask the service desk next to him, and they said it's about 30 minutes labour if it's all in place already, maybe £50 tops, but I had to tell them I'd bought it already and would get it fitted, so it's just the programming before getting this answer, but not paid much notice with so much else taking priority since, but due to get new all season tyres any day when they come in, and will see what happens then, but if the parts guy says it does need programming, then find a tyre centre that will clone your existing sensor, assuming it's still there (mine wasn't, sore point lol), far cheaper way to go if this is needed, hope this helps.

Great post - the Daily Mail was running out of material to serialise after your previous ones
