NS Front Passenger Door - Broken Door Catch - Advise Please

Featured Replies

Morning Team,

I think a combination of cold weather and general wear and tear has seen this door now not stay shut.

I believe the door mounted internal catch - the plastic bit which rotates and locks onto the chassis mounted bar when you push the door closed - has bitten the dust.

Focus Titanium 1.6 on a 59 plate.

Any tips on door card removal and access, and whether I just need the catch assembly replacing - seemingly held in with a few Torx fixings in the door edge?

Much appreciated.

Dave H

Can’t remember all the steps for taking the door pad off but there’ll be YouTube videos etc to help. Bezel needs to come off around the internal door latch and also the trim on the pull handle.

One thing I do remember it may help to have some spare doorpad pins and be prepared for some repair work to the doghouses where the pins locate into the doorpad. These have a habit of breaking when you pull the pad away instead of the pins disengaging from the door as intended 🙄
