Engine cutting out after about 15 seconds

Featured Replies

So my 2014 Focus Titanium X 1.5 tdci is driving me crazy!

Randomly 1 day just started popping up saying “service engine now” and then cut out about 5-10 seconds later, could turn it off turn it back on and it was absolutely fine, until one day it was just stuck on my drive cutting out after 15-20 seconds once turning the car on…

I know it’s a fuel issue and it’s had a fresh fuel filter, 2 new injectors (cylinder 2 & 3) but after maybe 6 miles, car turned back into mush and cutting out again, how vehicle recovered AGAIN and they got the exact same code they discovered first time…

P062D - Fuel injector driver circuit performance bank 1

AND

P062B - internal control module fuel injector control performance

Now the car is back in the garage they are now saying the injector is cylinder 1 needs changing and could do with a new fuel filter incase I’ve had bad fuel go though it, which I’ve only ever put premium classed diesel in…

Driving me crazy this car is!

Call back and let everyone know how the garage repairs it.

It’s currently in the garage, they are now changing cylinder 1 fuel injector and recommend doing the fuel filter again…

Yes thanks, I had read that. What I was meaning is when the garage had done the work, keep the forum updated so anyone with the same problem will know if that actually fixed the engine.

They should have the fuel tested for contaminants instead of just repeatedly changing the filter.

One injector down shouldn't make it cut out either.  The injector should be tested rather than just replaced.  I'd suggest it's more likely to be a loom fault or a lift pump issue.

Thought cars could run on 1 less cylinder, at least that's what I thought after watching mastermilo wreck engines on YouTube lol

I can confirm that a 4 cylinder Ecosport 1.5 petrol will run (idle) on only ONE cylinder. Yes it was rough but I was trying to stall the engine.

In the same way that a Boeing 777 which has 2 engines, will still fly with one, but you'd still be happier with both working

Aircraft a bit more important to be able to  fly on one engine. Otherwise with no engines you would be up there all day.

I haven't heard that joke since primary school, over 50 years ago, still funny though :LOL

Just an update,

got the car back from the garage, they have now replaced all 4 injectors, changed the fuel filter, changed the injector return leak off pipe, dropped the fuel and put a particulate flush through…

so far so good but with it going again so quickly the last time I’m really not optimistic on it staying fixed…

these days you don't just swap an injector - you have to set each of them up with special coding / calibration sequence using posh diagnostic kit - or the car will run like a joke
