Featured Replies

Hello i have a 1.4 petrol ford focus mk2 2007 180000km
Start and drive with no fault on ecu... But have no power at all and have lots of fuel consumption spark plugs full of carbon. Did a Full service and catalytic delete. Clean the fuel pump change oxygen sensor before the catalytic... Clean the throttle but still the same problem no power. There is no smoke on the exhaust engine running smoothly... Any idea? Need help please

Hi DtcFixer

Thank you for your reply and idea. But I did all of it no luck...

The funny thing is im not getting any faults...

Check fuel pump (removed and clean), there is no fuel filter.

Check for vacuum leak...

Check for air intake did a full service...

Check the exhaust system such as catalytic converter did a delete.

There is no maf sensor but Map sensor removed and clean...

Still having same problem...

First gear to second and third I have to go over 2500 rev to change gear if I'm taking over car in front of me

Has it lost power during your ownership or have you only recently acquired it?

They 1.4 isn't really powerful enough for the heavy Mk2 Focus, especially for overtaking.  This also makes the fuel economy poor as you're always on the throttle trying to maintain speed.

Very few were sold in the UK although I know they were more common in other countries, particularly those with tax based on engine size.

Spark plugs full of carbon usually indicates excessive over fuelling and would lead to high fuel consumption.  If fitted with a post cat hego sensor now I assume is missing with the cat ,would require ecu modification.

Have the diagnostic codes been read through the obd socket ?.

Hi just bought the car 2 weeks ago.

But its really down of power. I don't think it's normal because of the excessive fuel consumption and spark plugs getting lots of carbon..

Hi ford lovers. Some update about the 1.4 petrol mk2 ford focus 2007 with lack of power... I find a performance box connected to the ecu, I did remove it. It solved the problem with fuel consumption and carbon on the spark plugs. But still having same problem lack of power... Its seriously no good performance... Specially up the hill have to put second gear or even first gear.... If I'm overtaking i have to put third gear...

If you take off on first gear you have to go over 3000 rev to put second gear and third gear...

Have you checked the fuel injector performance?

They may be clogged or weeping, there are some videos on youtube of how to clean injectors

It could also be that it heavily coked up, due to the mileage.

Valve springs could be weak due to mileage

Has the oil been changed recently?

Has it got the correct oil in?
