FORD FOCUS 2016 - Titanium X - Central Locking Not Working

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

I have experienced a problem with the remote not being able to turn the central locking on or off, and this apples to the spare key as well.

The key fob batteries were immediately replaced on both fobs,  and the problem persisted. As a last resort the car battery (about 6 years old), was also replaced today, but again the problem is still there.

I am using the key blade to enter the car, placing the fob on to the central console key location area,  which allows me to turn off the alarm and switch the car on. It runs well using this method, laborious though it is.

However, i do not know how to enable the fobs to turn the central locking on or off, and start the car as i get a 'key code error message' . i have been informed that the keys need to be reprogrammed again, but the car must be picking up a signal to operate the car in the first place.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to rectify this situation without spending lots of money. In years gone by,  i used to be able to overcome this kind of problem on Ford cars,  by going into a routine by turning keys in locks on/off and pressing buttons in a very speedy fashion.

I would be extremely grateful, if anyone has experience of this problem, advice or can point me in the right direction to resolve this issue.

King Regards

Rubbish answer (in my opinion) but a very good attempt to get in the link to advertise your own website.

Gave me the impression of a cut-and-paste from a published checklist.

It sounds like you have already taken several steps to troubleshoot the issue with your remote not being able to control the central locking and start the car. Here are a few additional suggestions you may want to try:

Check the programming of the remote. Some vehicles require a specific sequence of button presses to program the remote. Consult your owner's manual or a mechanic to see if this is the case for your vehicle and if so, how to program the remote.

Check for any damage to the remote or the central console key location area. If either of these are damaged, it could affect the signal being transmitted or received.

Check the antenna for the remote system. The antenna is typically located near the rearview mirror or under the dashboard. If the antenna is damaged or not properly connected, it could affect the remote's signal.

Check the fuses for the remote system. The fuses for the remote system are usually located in the fuse panel under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it could cause the remote system to malfunction.

If these suggestions do not resolve the issue, it is possible that there is a problem with the vehicle's computer system or the remote system itself. In this case, it may be necessary to bring the vehicle to a mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for your quick response. Tailgate fuses are OK, and everything is pointing to the antenna, and i will get a mechanic to look at this is the New Year. One other problem which i forgot to mention was that the boot does not open. Do you know of a way to open this 2016 model from the inside. The manual does not give any method.

Hello All,

Just a quick update to my problem. The auto electrician found that it was a heavily corroded 'Keyless entry antenna'. He also advised that the plug was also corroded which created more difficulties. One replaced the car keyless entry systems worked OK.

Interesting resolution, just found myself in this situation with my 2016 zetec S, the signal got weaker and weaker and finally lost it today,

both key fobs checked but no luck, key works in central console to disable alarm, I’m curious which antenna was corroded? Do you know the location or part number, I’d be grateful

equally how much did it set u back to get fixed?

thank you

Hello,

It was £130 total.

I have not got the part number but it was described as the 'FORD FOCUS MK3 KEYLESS ENTRY ANTENNA'.

A good auto electrician will be able to do the job for you.
