Why we have cars.

Featured Replies

I may have to get from Poole to Mablethorpe.  This takes between four and five hours by car but as I have to recover a car solo, I must use public transport. Two hours on the net to find that the journey can be done in three legs, one of which doesn't run except for Sunday, and another that runs daily except for Sunday. Eventually I managed to download timetables which, naturally are protected better than Government secrets from prying eyes. I can do it! I need to leave at ten past two in the morning and will get there barring snags  by twenty past two in the afternoon by a combination of coach, train and bus at an average speed of twenty miles an hour. And that is why we have cars.

You may as well just get a bike, it would take about the same time and be cheaper 👍

In this weather? With my indolence?  If I could find a banger that would make the journey, I would.

Could you hire a car?  I know the pence per mile would be awful for just a few hours hire but would be far less stressful!

Tom, you know I don't like change - your new avatar is very unsettling to me!

I didn't realise my avatar changes would cause so much distress on here.

Got fed up of seeing The Scream but couldn't think of anything appropriate for next year.  Won't be driving again and I'm not a fish or a dog so options are fairly limited.

A hire car needs to be returned to base, otherwise I would take the  MGF and enjoy the roads around the fens.

Having the car delivered is another option but slumming it in Gordon's 328 Touring is a much better idea as I can take the spare wheel kit and Winter mats with me and it will allow for a decent roast dinner at the Toby in Peterborough.  I shall take the MG up there on Thursday and take a look at it first.

You can drive them from one location to another, doesn't have to be back to the original location.

Just need to see if any of the major chain locations are close to both places.

I don't think there is anywhere within about forty miles from the destination This is the other side of Lincoln which is forty miles from anywhere.

Yes, I see what you mean. Jasper Carrott might have been better informed than we knew!
