Engine stalled.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I don't know if this is the right section, so I apologise if it isn't.

I have a Ford Galaxy 2lt diesel 2013 plate. It's just topped 100,000 miles.

On Christmas Eve the engine cut out. I mean, went completely dead. I was at light and it just stopped. The electrics still worked (headlights, radio etc) but nothing else. I couldnt restart it, so a wonderful couple of strangers helped me push it round the corner and off the main road.

I recently had to have the "high pressure fuel pump" replaced, which it's the one attached to the DPF to keep it clear etc. The garage then had to do a regen about a week later. The engine management light hasn't gone off either.

Would this have caused the engine to cut out? Am I going to have to replace the DPF?

Has anyone had it deleted it? If so, is this a cheaper option for us?

Could it be a mething else?

P.s. happy Christmas to one and all.

Merry Christmas Tom 🎉

The 'hows and whys' can only be properly answered if you have the full Ford specific DTC's, otherwise it's pure guess work which gets expensive real quickly.

You need a laptop, download FORScan (it's free) and a good connecting cable like the vLinker FS (Amazon £30).

Then you can get the fault codes and remove the guess work. It will speed up repair and save replacing things which are not broke.
