I have a problem with my focus diesel any help welcomed in the message screen i get engine systems fault it came up when driving then went away but now it comes up all the time, with this fault the is no engine light on and no code stored however clearing the codes will make the fault go away, but then it just comes straight back. with the fault present the car will not go above 20mph and less uphill whilst on the drive if i press accelerator to the floor the car will stall. reving the engine will go about 2000rpm then any further on the accelarator the revs go down and the car will stall any help would be welcomed

Generic code readers will not read all Ford specific DTC's.

Use FORScan and a good ELM327(modified) connection cable and you will probably find there are DTC's stored.

ELM327(modified): https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx
