Mk4 Focus 2019 2.0 Duratorq - P2002 Error

Featured Replies

Hi guys, joined the forum a while back, but never really used much and then moved away from ford.

However we have got the wife a nice Vignale Focus which on the main has been pretty enjoyable with loads of toys. ANYWAY, the past few months it’s been getting constant P2002 errors which as it does a lot of short journeys recently I kinda expected.

The problem is, even after taking it for 20-30 minute drives along the motorway it’s still not clearing.

I connected my Autel MK808 to try check the live data, as I was told on a Facebook forum (I know don’t believe what you read hear on Facebook, hence why I’m here) to check the DPF inlet pressure to see what it reads as I can’t get it to tell me soot or ash content. This shows an initial value of about 600 Pa at startup then varies between 3-12 Pa while driving.

During my drive out, the regen status was always showing as off.

The car has warranty on it until March, but not sure if the DPF will be covered. I’ll call them after the holiday to check, but wanted to know if there was anything I can try in the mean time.

I have Forscan downloaded and have a cable to connect it. I’ll try that today to see what it says too.

When you get FORScan working check the  DPF Differential Pressure, it should be very near 0 Kpa at Idle and if it gets to more than about 5 when driving then it looks like the DPF is very blocked.

You can try a Static Regeneration with FORScan if it has been added to these cars now, it might not be because the model is still quite new. If it is implemented and FORScan does not allow you to do it then that might point to there being a problem with whatever does the Regeneration on these cars or the DPF is too blocked.

There may be other Codes that FORScan can pick up and Implied Soot and Ash Loads are not supported in all cars.

Forscan does connect to the car and shows codes, but when going into service, there doesn’t seem to be much info.
I never dug in too deep though as don’t want to click anything that might make it worse.

It was starting to get dark so will do it when it’s light.

What are the Codes?.

Best to wait till the morning if there is a Service Procedure for DPF Regeneration.

I only have a P2002, but as this is a soft code I was hoping it would have cleared when I went for a run. It’s an auto but put it in manual mode and held it in 6th gear at 70mph, that held the revs at 2.5k rpm.

I wouldn’t think as it’s only 3.5 years old it would have any perished hoses but I have seen some videos where this is the cause, so wondering if something has come loose?

Best to clear the code with FORScan and see if it comes back after a run.

The Differential Pressure reading should show how blocked the DPF is.

I think that your Engine will have a Vaporiser, NOx Sensor and AdBlue. There may be some PID's in FORScan you can monitor for these also. Unfortunately my knowledge base is not that up to date for these, someone else reading this may be.
