Boot leak

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a mk2 ford focus 2005 I've just noticed the boot carpet is wet but don't know where the leak is coming from. Any chance someone can help me out at where this could be from?

There have been a number of posts on this topic over the years. Unfortunately the search facility on this website is woefully inadequate so you'll get better results using Google (or DuckDuckGo which I prefer). I found this YouTube video that might help, and another thread here.

This is what caused my boot leak (Mk2 2005) though, every leak is different...

I can only repeat,

"Minister, two basic rules of government: Never look into anything you don't have to. And never set up an enquiry unless you know in advance what its findings will be..."

Written nearly 40 years ago, and just as true today LOL

Had condensation inside car recently and checking the boot last night I’ve got water coming in at the rhs, checked the side trim by the boot light and the foam in there is wet so it’ll be the light inserts leaking.

Am sure I’ve already replaced these once due to the seal having disintegrated - time to add a load of sealant I think, to seal the insert plus probably an extra bead to help divert water away from the area too.
