Mk4 mondeo thermostat

Featured Replies

Hi guys I have a 2014 2.0tdci mondeo which had a small coolant leak from the thermostat housing. But since changing the stat the engine temperature is low when driving, if I leave it idling it will come to temperature and as soon as I drive off will cool again. Heater inside the car is getting warm but not hot. Is it possible I got a faulty thermostat or is there another problem that one of you have come across

Thanks

Pat

Certainly sounds like it's stuck open.  Does the needle fluctuate during a journey? That's another sign of it being stuck open.

Hi guys just an update I replaced the thermostat with a reputable company component and have no issues. When I inspected the one I removed from the car I found the the thermostat was loose in the housing which was enabling the coolent to bypass the stat. So just be careful when getting spurious parts the cheapest option isn't always the best, you get what you pay for
