Which fiesta/focus have a torque converter?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im looking to purchase an automatic focus/fiesta and my budget is £10k. Im mainly looking for reliability so im only considering  cars with a torque converter as i have read horror stories about powershift.

I'd worry about what engine and the age you are looking at before been concerned about the auto gearbox.

Are you wanting petrol or diesel ? What size engine ?

Neither of Ford's powershifts or torque convertor autos are any good really, if you want me to be honest.

With a budget of £10k you will get a decent(ish) BMW with the excellent ZF torque convertor auto. Just be mindful of pre 2014 2.0 Diesels (that's 18, 20, 25) as they had cam chain tensioner issues.

VAG DSGs are much more reliable than Ford too, but still effectively Powershifts, but can still have issues if they have been neglected or not serviced, the fluid needs changing every 3 years.
