Having a problem with code coming on saying lost communication with instrument panel cluster also ignition switch playing up could these be related or is there some other probs any help much appreciated

    On a 2009 Focus Mk2 it is almost certainly the very common fault of the solder joints on the rear of the instrument cluster failing.

    Back when the car was made the instrument cluster was soldered using "Lead Free" solder which as it ages breaks causing high resistant joints. The IC needs to be removed and all solder joints reflowed with a good quality solder.

    There are many companies that professionally repair/refurbish the instrument clusters for approximately £90, just search on Google.
