Heating issue

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a 2019 ST-Line X Focus. It’s developed a peculiar issue with the internal heating.

It was left untouched for three and a half weeks recently during the cold snap as I was away. When I came to use it again, the battery had drained.

A mechanic came out to jump start and check the battery (no issue, he said).

However, ever since the two heating vents on the driver side (either side of the steering wheel) only produce cold air. The two on the passenger side are fine and get hot as normal when the heating is turned up.

They were working completely fine prior to this.

Anyone have an idea what might be going on?

Thanks.

Stupid question but are the dual zone climate controls synchronised?

Hmmm. On the display, yes - but could something to do with the battery have knocked something off?

The Mk4 Focus does not take kindly to being jump started when the battery is extremely flat.

The many modules in the car power up in a totally haphazard fashion which can lead to all sorts of random problems.

The normal fix is to disconnect the negative of the battery and leave it off for 30 minutes. When you reconnect it all the control modules will reboot and with luck normal service will be restored.

I was also told to leave it connected for a good 10 mins before trying to start the car after replacing the battery to let the modules reset so it doesn't cause any issues.

Hi,

Did you solve this ?.

My car  st line x 2018 developed the same cold air on drivers side issue

Well James never did tell us what happened. He did look back in on the forum 16th Jan but never updated us with the results. UNLESS he thought he had to leave the battery disconnected for 30 days instead of minutes 🤣

I haven't tried disconnecting the battery yet, but prior to this I haven't had any battery related issues ( apart from the usual stop/ start not working lol ) .

For reasons I won’t bore you with, I have only been able to do this today, but…
