Eml solenoid control issue

Featured Replies

Hi, please please help anyone!

I have focus st2 09plate, I have an intake and exhaust control valve solenoid circuit eml error for quit a few weeks now and I'm pulling my hair out over it.

I attached the codes that I have.

Now I have changed the vvt solenoids for new ones, I've got auto electrician to check engine bay loom too.

I have very random one off misfires at startup which only happens 5% of the time, after the auto choke sorts itself out its fine.

Car runs sweet. powers there too.

There is no maonaise in the oil, no smoke at all, no loss of coolant.

I've checked engine bay fuses too

I do have replacement vvt cam pulleys incase it's this but would like to know if its a timing issue too and don't want to pay ford/devel developments high hour diagnostics charges. (I'm wanting to sell it and need the best money i canl

Anything else please help me thank you.

Try and use Forscan you will get the full codes, with descriptions of what to look at and the ability to reset.

Is the battery good?

Try rechecking the fuses - I can’t remember the fuse number off hand (May be able to dig it out later) but I had issue with similar codes some time ago and eventually worked out it was related to the heater circuit that is part of the oil diaphragm unit. This had failed causing fuse to blow which also the supplies the cam solenoids.

Didn’t have the wiring diagrams to hand while I was checking mine out but removing the 2 pin connector from the diaphragm unit stopped the fuse blowing.

Did all the wiring under the engine top cover look ok? The part of the loom that feeds the coil sticks and also the cam solenoids

I'd be a bit suspicious of the U1900 anf U2023 codes. Could this be the infamous instrument cluster problem? It's the right age vehicle for it.

Agree, u1900 codes etc with other various codes could be cluster solder joints. Give the dash a whack above the Custer and see if you get a reaction.
