FORD FOCUS TITANIUM X 2016 - OPEN CAR BOOT

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I am currently having problems with central locking, but am able to get into, and start the car using the blade key with fob in central console. It is going to take a week or so before an auto electrician can diagnose the issue.

My question is, how do i open the boot of the car from the inside,  using mechanical or any other means?

When i press the unlock/lock buttons on the driver door, it just works on the the four front doors and not the hatch.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

The short answer is you don't.

The boot lock is electric and there is no mechanical means to open it.

What is wrong with your remote key fobs ?

Hello,

I will quickly give you the background to what happened. Just before Xmas, i was using the car with no problems at all. Suddenly the Key Fob stopped working, and central locking could not be used to open the car. There were no signals or errors that you normally see on the dashboard. I then did the usual stuff, changed the key fob batteries (spare as well) and eventually changed the car battery, but the central locking still could not be used. I had both key  fobs checked and they were working fine, but the car could not pick up the signal. The next step was to look at whether the keys had to be paired to the car again, and the place that checked my Fobs said that it was most probably the signal receiver in the car that was at fault due to corrosion (etc). I have been able to get in, start and use the car using the blade key with fob located in central console, and the car is running OK.

I have been advised to get in touch with an auto electrician, but i am struggling to find a good one in the locality without spending lots of money. I know i shouldn't but i might see what FORD themselves say.

You need to use a laptop and download FORScan software. Connect to the car using a vLinker FS cable and then you will be able to read any Ford specific DTC that there maybe. This will tell you what the issue is with the remote system.

FORScan (free for laptops): https://forscan.org/download.html

vLinker FS cable: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-vLinker-Adapter-FORScan-MS-CAN/dp/B0952P4MLP/ref=asc_df_B0952P4MLP/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=534732308385&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6295772977800656933&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006688&hvtargid=pla-1430824679036&psc=1

Turn on ignition, but do not start the car.

Disconnect the battery negative and positive cables, cover the poles so that they cannot make contact,

touch the positive & negative cables together and hold for 5 minutes

Reconnect the positive, then the negative cables

See if it starts working again
