2015 1.25 fiesta stuck in 1st&reverse

Featured Replies

My car seems to be getting stuck in first gear and the biting point is barely off the ground, the engine seems to stall itself, this happens in reverse too, sometimes it’s fine&other times it happens a few times in a row, any help would be appreciated.

I suspect, as you probably do, that you have a clutch problem. The 2015 Fiesta has a concentric slave cylinder that gives trouble but to avoid too much guesswork, a few questions to help us to help you.

How many miles has the car covered?

Can you select all gears with the engine off?

Has this happened suddenly or over a period of time?

Have you lost fluid from the clutch reservoir?

car has around 37k miles on it which is why I’m thinking it’s a bit early to be changing the clutch, I can select all gears when the engine is off & no fluid has been lost in the reservoir so it can’t be a leak, it happened a few times a couple of months ago but it seems to be happening every time I drive now, thanks for getting back to me.

I think that the clutch slave cylinder has failed. Can you get a smoother change if you pump the clutch pedal?

That’s what I was thinking as well was just getting a second opinion, I was getting a smoother change when pumping the clutch a few months ago but it isn’t helping when I do it now.

QED. Box off job.
