Timing belt - Wiltshire

Featured Replies

Hello

Based in Wiltshire I'd like to know if there is a recommended garage that I can trust the timing belt change of my galaxy 2013 diesel 2ltr.

I mean someone other than a dealership garage as I am not able to pay for what the dealer is asking me.

Car only has 50k miles but Ford recommends to replace it after 10 years.

Depends where you are in Wiltshire. I don't know of any or rather have no experience of any.

How much are Ford quoting you? does it include the water pump, all the pulleys and the fan belt too?

I paid £600 in 2021 at Elkins Ford in Westbury. Which I considered to be ok as I was planning to do it myself with genuine Ford parts or Gates parts, but I would have needed some new tools too, so for a bit over £100 I thought I'd let someone else do it and save me a load of time and hassle. An independant garage would charge less but you don't always know what brand parts they are using. Have you obtained any quotes from your local garages?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I was hoping I get an email telling me that someone had replied. Do I need to do something to have that enabled? I check my spam folder every day and didn't get anything there.

It would be something between £600 and £700 12 months ago. I also asked a local Peugeot garage and they would also charge around the same. Yes, it's always with the water pump and all belts. I'm assuming that both would use genuine ford parts.

I have not found any other local garages I would trust such job. I would hope there were ford specialists. I'm in the Devizes area.

Check your account settings and make sure your email is correct. I just received an email notifying me.

You might as well get quotes from Elkins Ford in Westbury and Trowbridge Ford, ask for a courtesy car too if it helps, that's what I did, and see how it compares to the Peugeot quote.

I paid around £400 at a local garage, did my 2.2 s max and now my 2.0 tdci galaxy.

I would not be concerned about finding a Ford specialist, the engine is common enough in various Fords and PSA vehicles that it shouldn’t be an unusual sight for many garages.
