Focus 4 steering noise

Late 2020 Focus 4 1.5 diesel ST-Line 70 reg..

While turning the steering wheel to the left, get an odd noise, a sort of "pinging".  Happens in forward and reverse, more often than not.

Now I know I'll be taking it back to the Ford garage to be looked at, and I know what will happen when I do - a round of "no fault found", probably escalating to a complaint (why is Ford far worse at this than even Vauxhall?). At least, that's been my experience so far with one annoying thing (exhaust noise) still outstanding.

Objective of course is to make sure that any oddities are sorted before the warranty runs out to save costs later!

So I want to be prepared, with anyone's experience of this, but in particular

1) Anyone else experienced this?

2) If so, what was the outcome?

3) Does it need sorting NOW, or can it wait to see what develops? (Warranty still has several months to run)

4) Why only when turning left?
