Damn thing's not even 2 years old! I really should learn to stop buying cheap *****, it's a false economy!

This year, my cooker will be celebrating it's 31st Birthday! At the time, I remember a 'discussion' with my ex on how expensive it was. I guess at about £20/year, turns out to be pretty cheap LOL

Still on the original light bulbs too

The dealer has offered to take the car back. I won't find another like it so will fix it myself. I only wish that I did not have to

Ok, I've got to ask, why is 225c, 200c in oven?

LOL, I'm obsessed with things being 'right' so I use a very accurate oven thermometer to ensure correct temperature. However the analogue dial on the oven isn't so accurate, so simply, you need to dial it to 225c to get 200c inside the oven. Does'n everyone calibrate their oven like that?? LOL

Ah, makes perfect sense.  Yes, mine also reads a bit low on the dial lol.

Funnily enough, it was the oven thermometer that made me realise last night.  It started cooking the food, so I went to loo as usual (and browsed FOC lol) then opened the oven door when it should have been cooked...but everything looked pale and smelt pretty bad.  Still hadn't twigged at this point...just set it for another 5 minutes...  5 mins time no different, only then checked the thermometer and see it's sitting at about 50c and dropping lol. 🤦‍♂️

I guess it's like a car speedometer. When mine says 70mph, my SatNav, ultimately much more accurate, says 66mph LOL

I'm wondering what WOULD cause you to check a tyre? 😉

Never checked the tyre FOR A NAIL.

I'm thinking if I lost 4lb/day pressure from a tire, I'd certainly be checking it for something untoward!

Yes, but people don't which is why we have TPMS to save us and them from their stupidity.

I remember when Porsche released the 1st ever production car in 1986 (their 959) with TPMS I always promised myself a car with TPMS as I loved the idea of sitting in the driver seat knowing the tire pressures without actually getting out & measuring them. Well, it took me a few decades, but £22 later (inc 4 x sensors and display) I got TPMS!

I use a pressure gauge as it reads correctly. TPMS is a bit approximate, reading between 100mb and 200mb high although I now routinely adjust the dashboard reading in my head.

Must admit that my TPMS matches my various 'manual' meters 100% so I never bother now, couple of months ago it warned me of a slow puncture - it was correct!

The most important thing is being able to see that the car is set to your preferred pressure. Some like them a couple of pounds higher here or there. My gauge head  was stupidly expensive new, being calibrated but ex equipment it was very cheap and as I have access to calibrators, I could check it. I need it most for the F which likes different pressures on hot days and is fearfully sensitive to them. Get it wrong and it is good. Get it right and it is only outmanoeuvred by an Elise. One peculiarity is that the ride height rises as the car warms up about 0.6mm/degree so the car sits nearly half an inch higher on a really hot day which means another pressure change, about 100mb less, before setting off.

Returning to Fords, the Fiesta ran 450 miles over the last couple of days and returned 53.6 driven fairly gently. The front tyre feathering is much reduced now, suggesting the previous owner drove like a twit. The particularly bad one on the rear is due to the rim being buckled. The Dealer can sort that one out. I changed the plugs today and need to get underneath to do an oil change yet. The engine bay was treated to a good tidy up and the new wheels are getting a clean  before being fitted. Still can't stop the bootlid hinges from groaning yet. More oil Igor!
