Help! Tailgate pops open when driving

Featured Replies

Hi all

I hope someone can help. My tailgate pops open when I am driving. Looking around seems to be a common issue but I am struggling to find the fix for this issue. Also if I need to buy a new switch can anyone help with a link to the part please. Maybe the lock mechanism?

Thanks for any help

Regards

Yes, it's just a plug in socket so you'd have to remove the interior trim panel rto get access to unbolt old/re bolt on new. However, your Mk7 comment is confusing, amd unaware of a Mk7 Focus as we're only on Mk4!

Same principal i take it on all Fords with this issue? So I can adapt your instuctions to my Fiesta?

I *THINK* so.

If so, it's a lot quicker to prise it out from the outside.

10 minute job - don't worry if you damage the old switch when removing it.

its easy to change..mine wasnt opening so had it changed with a genuine ford one and its been fine so far but didnt put any extra seal on it etc.

Did you manage to prise your out from the back or did you remove the inside trim?
