Powershift oil change

Featured Replies

My wifes car is a 2011 SMAX 2.0 Titanium X, Ecoboost 240,which is starting to slightly misbehave when cold (feels like a minor slip).

It has a full service history, but no mention of the Gearbox oil having ever been done.

I have read conflicting stuff regarding a Powershift oil change, some say it needs to be flushed, while other say just drain (2 bottom plugs and oil filter) and refill.

Could anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Mark

There is loads of info if you search, especially you tube,

Here is a fairly decent example. For a half decent chance of a reasonably trouble free life the oil and filter MUST be replaced every 37,500 miles or 3 years, whichever occurs first. When the old oil filter has drained off for a few hours carefully inspect it for miniscule particles of plastic type bits white/cream in colour - any signs of these bits are an early sign of the trans front clutch breaking up

Thanks Trevor, much appreciated.

I was getting a lot of conflicting info regarding this gearbox and my usual garage did not want to do it.

Cheers

Mark
