2007 Focus 1.6 tdci not starting

Featured Replies

Hello everybody, first post here.

I replaced one injector with a used (supposedly tested) one because I damaged mine when replacing an injector seal. It sat disassembled for a while because of this. I'm not able to get it to start. At first it started for a second or two, but now it won't start at all. Do I need to prime the system? When cranking it gets up to about 3,000 kPa. I know this is not where it needs to be. My concern is the little pressure it builds up bleeds off over a little bit of time. Is it supposed to hold the pressure or should it go back down after I stop cranking? Is this new injector leaking all of the pressure into its cylinder? One cylinder does sound lower on compression when turning over. I'm attaching the graph from Forscan of my fuel rail pressure. If it builds some pressure does that mean it doesn't need to be primed?

Have you primed the system with a hand pump?  There's no tank pump on these so you do have to hand-pump after the system has been open a while.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have not done that. I wasn't sure if it was necessary since I didn't touch the filter or anything further into the system than the one injector connection. since it was open, does all the fuel in the system just drain back to the tank?
