2021 Focus Mild Hybrid Phantom Breaking

Featured Replies

My focus applies the brakes causing the car to stop suddenly to a standstill without warning without any other vehicles in front or behind and no obstacles  either side. Even does it with the anti collision assist deactivated through the settings. Ford garage had the car yesterday and could not find a fault. It happened again today on a clear road. Fleeting message on the screen white letters on black read "brakes have been applied". Apparently there are no updates. Any other drivers experiencing the same problem????

When it does it, take a photo of the dash, take the car back again, inform Ford CRC of the issue, if it does it after three attempts for the dealer failing to thoroughly investigate the issue reject the vehicle, you will end up causing a pile up

Just a though…. Have you given the radar/LiDAR a good clean.

All the sensors including the radar cover and windscreen surface are kept very clear as per recommendations. However you cannot see or access behind the radar cover and if the anti collision assist is being disabled is should not matter if anything was on the cover.

This just shows how potentially dangerous these co-called "driver aids" can be. It's like the sign recognition and other "aids" that flash messages up to distract the driver from keeping a good look out. It's technology for the sake of it!
