Water in spare wheel well?

Hello, Would any one happen to have any idea as to how water is collecting in the spare wheel well of my 65' reg Ford Kuga Titanium, I've tried hosing water all over the tail gate to see if I can detect if its from that area if it is rain water but nothing shows up, but somehow it getting there, I only have a look after a couple of months or so and its collected probably 2 or 3 pints by then, just can't find the cause. I would appreciate any possible suggestions please.
