MK3 2013 Focus, horn, rear wiper and fans not working.

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'm hoping I can get some help from you all, i have a 2013 1.6 ford focus and it needed jump starting a couple weeks ago, however after jumping it the fans for the AC/heater will not come on i think the heating and ac are still working as the plastic around the vents still gets warm just no air is being pushed out.

After checking the horn and rear wiper will not come on. I'm assuming this is an electrical issue? but don't really know I've looked at the fuses and they seem fine the battery is showing 12v on accessory power and 15v(ish) while running so i don't think it is the battery.

Only thing left I can think of is the relays but I'm unsure how to check them i think R2 is the horn R5 is the Rear wiper the fans is r12 (cooling fan) or r13 (Heater blower). I have some relays on order to check.

Is there anything else that i should think to look at or has anyone else come across this issue. I want to sell the car so the cheaper I can fix it the better.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Adam, cars often do not work well after been jump started especially if the battery was very low.

The normal fix to reset everything is to disconnect the negative lead from the car battery and leave it off for half an hour. Then reconnect and wait 10 minutes before restarting the engine. This gives all modules in the car to reboot in the correct order. With luck this should get your car back to normal.

If that fails you will need to use FORScan so you can read the Ford specific error DTC's which will give you a good idea of what is wrong.
