-Ford Fiesta Zetec JA8  08-13

----------------------------------------------------------

Misc:
-Flush the coolant every 50k miles or 5 years

----------------------------------------------------------

-Make sure the engine is cold
-Release the coolant from the valve at the bottom of the radiator (catch the coolant in a bucket)
-Unfasten the bottom & top radiator hose (Release the coolant from the bottom hose if you did not have a radiator valve)
-Flush water through the top radiator hose going into the engine block, using a hose pipe. Do this until the water comes out clear.
-Flush out the radiator from the top. Do this until the water comes out clear.
-Back flush water through the thermostat housing hose using a hose pipe. Do this until the water comes out clear. (Optionally remove the thermostat for better water flow)
-Fasten the hoses back on (Line up the notches on the hoses & spring clips)

-Fill the system with deionised water & radiator flush treatment (Don't use a sealing additive)
-Let it idle for 10 minutes
-Make sure the engine is cool & remove the coolant reservoir cap
-Drain the deionised water from the radiator & also from the engine coolant drain plug on the engine block (if it has one)
(Drain from the bottom radiator hose if that is not possible)
-Fill the system with deionised water again & put the reservoir cap back on
-Let it idle for 10 minutes
-Make sure the engine is cool & remove the coolant reservoir cap
-Drain the deionised water from the radiator & also from the coolant drain plug on the engine block (if it has one)
(Drain from the bottom radiator hose if that is not possible)
-Add 50/50 concentrated antifreeze and deionised water until at the max fill line. Refit the reservoir cap.

-Attach a coolant bleeding funnel kit to the expansion tank
-Turn the heat to full & the blower to the first setting
-Read the engine temperature through an OBD tool
-Keep the engine revved at 2500 RPM for 15 minutes
-Increase the RPM to 4000 for 10 seconds
-Hold the RPM at 2500 for another 5-10 minutes
-EASE OFF THE ACCELERATOR IF THE TEMPERATURE GOES OVER 100c!!!!
-Decrease the engine speed to idle and then shut it off and allow it to cool
-Top off with coolant until it is at the midpoint of the fill level

-If it isn’t cold outside then the radiator fan will kick on when the engine is hot enough for the thermostat to fully open. 5 minutes after the fan has kicked in it should be fully burped.
-If it is too cold outside for the fan to kick in then you can tell that the thermostat has fully opened by checking that the engine temperature has reached 97c+. It should only need about 5 minutes to bleed the air out of the system now.
-Also the top radiator hose will be pretty hot by this point, the bottom radiator hose will be warm
-You can repeatedly squeeze the top radiator hose to help bleed the air out
