I have a 2006 Ford Focus 1.6 petrol LX. The mileage display illuminates but does not display the mileage which is only 48,000. I have sent the cluster for repair and I have been told its not repairable and they don't have a replacement, it's the very basic cluster. Does anyone know if it can be repaired as I know you can fit a second hand unit and have it programmed to the car for the immobiliser, but I've been told the mileage cannot be corrected. Can anyone help.

It's been a little while since we have had someone with this problem.

If you can find a replacement instrument cluster that has LESS miles than your car, then the mileage can be changed. It is possible using FORScan to increase the mileage to match your old display. You can not reduce the mileage on the replacement.

Thank you very much Unofix. I don't think I'm going to find a replacement cluster with 40,000 or less on it. I guess it will just have to be higher mileage than it is. Thank you for your quick reply. James.

From what's been said, I think that's right, but I would say it's not a big deal.  YOU know what miles the car has done and any potential buyer will check its MOT history on gov.uk.  Can you access the odometer reading via the 'secret menu' like you can on a Mk3?

If that's the only issue with your cluster, I would question whether it's worth the time and money you'll spend fixing it.
