Featured Replies

hello can anyone please help.

i have just bought a 2016 mondeo from it would seem a cowboy trader the problem i have is the satnav shows a simble of a red cross say no gps.after numerous seches i plumped for a cheap gps antenna. after removing the head unit it appears theres nowhere to plug the antenna the antennas there but nowhere to plug it in.if all else fails anyone replaced the headunit with a aftermarket unit.please be gentle i am out of my depth here

Hi Stephen, start by posting a photo of the satnav unit you have in the car.

If it is saying satnav no GPS then it has to have a Aerial input.

Is the Map SD card fitted and is it working ?

thanks for  the reply thats my problem there is no imput socket on the apim can i add. one i think the trader put the wrong on on when the screen failed but he won't have anything to do with it.yes the sd card is ok

Sounds like you need to replace the APIM with the correct unit.

If the car did have satnav before, then when you remove the APIM there must be an aerial cable just lying about that's not plugged in.

Yes there is can a gps plug be added to the apim

It will not have the correct firmware for satnav so even if you were able to add the fakra socket it wouldn't help.

You will need an APIM that is for satnav. Then you will have to use FORScan and update the replacment unit with the 'AsBuilt' file for your vehicle. FORScan can automatically download the original file for your car from the Ford servers.
