Ford finance help

Who's paying interest?  0% APR ftw.

It's all built in to the price you pay really.

They never have any finance offers on the STs though.

Not so sure tbh.  With 0% APR, £1k finance contribution and a dealership discount, mine worked out a lot less than RRP cash price.  I would have financed a Golf instead if VW had offered the same option.

What I mean is that it's built in to the overall price. A bit like retailers build in the 2% credit card surcharge on goods (they still get charged it even if we don't), some of the margin on the car covers the interest.

There'll be the rare occasion where the car is worth less than the MGFV, yes

As ever, it's a case of doing your sums carefully. I recall VW made a major c*ck  up some years back on the Golf R. They wildly overestimated the future value with the result that the monthlies were ridiculously low and you'd have been nuts not  to hand the car back.

That sort of thing doesn't happen very often, though!

My trawl round various dealers late last year suggested quite a lot of people must be.

Iirc** VW and Toyota were quoting 7.9%, Honda 8.9%, Hyundai 8.6%, only Ford mentioned 0%.

(** I tend to glaze over when an interest rate higher than zero is mentioned😃)

Not me. That's one rule I've had for a very long time.

I knew what you meant.

But when the car's cheaper through finance than cash, someone's losing somewhere...

The Vignale Edition was already priced low compared to adding Vig options on to a standard Active or Titanium.  Financially it was very good value in that spec.  I think margins must have been tight, though it is a less desirable model so few were sold.

Blimey, think it was about 5% for VW in early 2021 when I ordered the Focus.

The value for the manufacturer in having you on finance is the opportunity to sell you another car when it’s time for renewal.

Vaguely related, a mate of mine has a '20 plate Connect and was in the dealer's the other day and IF he wanted to sell he was offered MORE than what he paid for it 3 years ago! 😲

Not sure many Mk4 owners would go back for another Ford!

Mine's been the best Ford I've owned and the one I've kept the longest, got an extended warranty so planning to keep it a while yet.

That said, I'm unlikely to get another Ford next time as I don't see anything I'd want from them if they are only doing EV and SUV.

People's experiences can vary, so it's essential to do thorough research and read reviews. Regarding the minimum buy back figure, make sure it aligns with your plans for changing to a new car later on. As for the £5000 deposit, it's best to clarify with the dealer if it's refundable or how it'll be applied.
