Focus 2012, 2.0 - Oil steam exits through valve cover gasket

Featured Replies

Hi, everyone.

Focus 2012, 2.0, 95000 kms.

Basically, as the title says - oil steam exits through valve cover gasket (attached the photo), even though it was just replaced by the specialist.

The other specialist thinks it may be just poor work quality, however I'm wandering if anybody here had experienced the same issue.

Thanks.

I can't see anything in that photograph. Maybe you should highlight where you mean.

By 'Oil steam' do you mean 'oil mist' or a mixture of oil and water steam? If only oil mist then the odds are it's just a poor fitting gasket. If there is steam involved it might be more serious - but still the gasket is leaking which it shouldn't be.

Getting a perfect fit can be tricky. Since they just fitted a new one and failed to get a sufficiently good seal, just politely request that they redo it (for free) and cross your fingers that this time they manage to achieve a better seal.

Thank you! Will do this tomorrow.

Apparently, I can not attach videos here, as it would be much better than a photo.

I suppose it's an oil mist, and hopefully tomorrow's replacement will fix the issue.
