I’m trying to establish if mine is chain or belt. 2019 Ford focus st line x 6 speed manual but engine looks exactly like op. I’ll insert pics below. Interesting if it is a chain it seams they changed earlier than people think. Mine has a sticker on it of august 2018 but uncertain if this refers to the engine or not.

That is a chain engine.  All Mk4 Focus 1.0 EcoBoost's are chain driven.  (2018 onwards).  This thread is for Mk8 Fiesta's where there was no sharp changeover in the same way.

Hi. Just took delivery of late 2020 Fiesta ST Line. Have had wet timing probs with previous cars but stupidly didn’t check when buying this time. Can anyone tell me if this engine has a wet or chain timing belt please? Thanks

They still have wet belt oil pump drive which specify replacing at 10 yrs 140000 miles. Replacing the belt would need removing the cam chain anyway so guess that should be replaced at the same time.

cam chain engines should be less likely to fail or clog the oil ways but wouldn’t scrimp on the servicing and NO use of engine flushing oil.

Thanks so much for that info. Massive help. Do you know if the engine I have (in the photo I posted) has a cam chain or wet belt (as per some earlier models)? Thanks again

That's the chain engine.

But as above, still has a wetbelt for the oil pump.
