So as the title says I need a method to download and save a YouTube video to a file.

It would be good if this can be done using Windows 7, but more importantly if it can be done on an iPad.

The problem I'm getting with the many sites that claim to offer a method they are still relying on having an internet connection on playback. I need a fully working independent file that will playback while on board an airplane.

    Thank you, I'll get my daughter to give it a try on her iPad, I'm and android user.

    She wants to download two little videos for her little one to watch when they are on the airplane to Spain. So no WiFi available unlike Virgin Atlantic flights.

    We're away to Spain as well in a couple of weeks and I've downloaded a couple of episodes of Top Gear from the BBC website to watch, might be something to bear in mind for her as well..... maybe not Top Gear though 😃

    You can download programs through BBC iPlayer to watch offline.

    Obviously only works for BBC programs.  Although other channels may offer the same service.

    I'm late to the party here, but I remember reading somewhere that you can download videos, but, you have a be a 'premium' YouTube subscriber, thievin' bunch of bas..... LOL
