My pcv valve is leaking oil onto the radiator fan

Featured Replies

So I removed it and cleaned it up a bit.

When I look in the fitting that goes into the air box there does not seem to be any type of 1 way valve mechanism? No sign of anything broken either. I can also blow through both ends of it. This has me confused.

Unless the valve is inside the rocker cover? (Didn’t notice one when I did the gasket)

So do I spend money on a new part and hope that there is a valve on there? Or is this just the design and all I need to do is replace the 2 O rings?

Also am I annoyingly correct in thinking that you cannot remove this hard plastic hose from the ‘valve’?

IS IT ALSO POSSIBLE THAT THIS ISNT THE CRANKCASE BREATHER HOSE? IT COMES FROM THE ROCKER COVER AND NOT THR ACTUAL CRANKCASE ITSELF

You're in luck, someone wrote a **GUIDE** on how to replace the PCV on a Fiesta Mk7 like yours only last month.

That’s just the filter mate lol

I’ve never actually messed with the valve itself. Although I ASSUME that it’s supposed to be housed in the bit that directly clips into the airbox. I don’t know that though which is why I need help

I’m being totally thick, this INTAKE breather pipe isn’t supposed have a valve in it. It will only let oil flow down it if the pressure builds up inside the engine as the valve on the EXHAUST?? breather pipe is blocked.

I assume that the pressure just gets ventilated out into the exhaust? Do you know?

I don’t know why I wasn’t thinking that it would need both a positive and negative breather pipe. Stupid brain

Tom @TomsFocus is the guy to explain the workings of PCV and EGR's etc. etc.

Okay! I know their general purpose but that’s about it. I don’t believe that I have an EGR valve on my 1.2 petrol fiesta, although I could be wrong there.

Ive actually now located the PCV valve. It feeds back into the intake manifold which confuses me because I don’t see how that won’t cause oil to make its way into the combustion chambers. Even if the valve stops most of it that still doesn’t sound great.

My valve doesn’t seem stuck at all it rattles easily.. Hmm why the hell is oil being forced out of the breather pipe on the airbox then

Maybe I have it all backwards and this pipe is the intake and the one going into the airbox is the exhaust.

Oil vapour is sucked into the intake under vacuum.  That's how the system works.  There is an attempt at separating the oil from the air but there will always be a small amount of oil bypassing the separator, getting sucked into the cylinders and burnt.

Cheers!
Seeing as though my PCV valve still seems functional and I am still getting excess oil in my airbox, do you reckon that could be due to slightly worn piston rings instead?

Possibly.

Have you still got the square bit of sponge in the air box where the pipe enters?
