Hi GUYS

Im new to this and had to reach out to anyone who may have ideas about my problem

Bought an engine and fitted it to my Fusion,

i saw the engine running when i bought it , perfect

However when i fitted it to Fusion  filled it with oil , White gung appeared in filler cap . i keep checking every day and no water in oil or no oil in water ,

Only thing i had to change was the Throttle body  as the throttle body on bought engine was giving loads of errors on dash .

Can anyone give me a clue as to why the oil filler cap is gunging up  please

Very common on engines that have sat around with little use and/or do frequent short journeys and the engine never gets fully up to temp. It's caused in most cases by excessive condensation inside the engine.

Check that the crankcase breather is not blocked. Then do another oil and filter change and also replace the oil filler cap. Take the car out on a good long run and get the engine nice and hot to help expel any moisture.

Thanks to the guys that have responded to my GUNGE in Filler cap .

The Guage goes up to half and stays there , but the engine isnt actually that hot , as i have put my finger in bottle a few times and the coolant isnt too hot .

i cleaned the inlet pipes and valves today  and went for a run , there is even more GUNGE now.

i honestly and truly dont know what else than dismantle to fit a new gasket but in apprehensive going through that if it is something really silly that was wrong

Until you change the oil and filter again you won't get rid of the gunge. The water moisture is being held in suspension in the oil. When the oil gets hot the moisture is coming out of the oil. Eventually you might see some improvement after a few thousand miles.

I don't think the coolant in the expansion bottle ever gets hot - the coolant doesn't circulate through it. Feel the engine itself ( CAREFULLY!) or you might get more of a clue from a £15 infrared thermometer (which if you haven't got one, you will find a hundred uses for once you do get one).

Ive had Fordies for years  and it was only at the recent MOT  that i learned about MOT and Dash lights , i was saying about the dash light for Lamda sensor , all i said was that would have failed , but on a car of 2003 apparently a light on is not a fail . but the last car i had was 2005 and it failed for light on dash ,

its strange but thats what this old Dog learned anyway

Petrol or diesel? Rules on whether it fails if engine management light on has different years for petrol / diesel. With diesel it’s pre-2008 doesn’t fail. Petrol is an earlier date but I can’t remember exact year.

The year for the light on dashboard must be around 2005 as my 2003 would have been ok for mot with light on , and yet it says in different places that if a light is on its a fail , but doesnt say from what year . . but i just replaced the gearbox Seal on My Fusion  and i found it a peice o cake ,

but in still getting gunge in the oil filler , have to leave it for now as its too cold and snow , i now know what to do but its getting it done , My Garage roof is the blue sky so i need to just wait

Hi Guys

Here i am again looking for info for the old FUSION ,

There is a little 10 mm Screw on bottom of Electronic Carb unit , i reckoned that was to turn the revs down , as after start up the engine revs at 150 ish RPM  It is a bit fast

But i remember my 1.4 Fiesta was about 1 to 150 RPM ,  this is just another problem for me as the gunge in the oil filler is still there after doing the things that was mentioned , i have the gasket , just waiting till a good sunbathing day to do the job , ha ha
