Fiesta Mk7 On Order, Keyless Or Dress Up Kit

Featured Replies

Hi there, this is my 1st post although iv owned my current Mk6.5 fiesta zetec blue for a couple of years im buying a new Titanium 1.6tdci in september, i have always wanted keyless and even was sad enough to wire a power start button in my current fiesta (still needing the key obviously) so i thought i really wanted the keyless in my new car but im a bit confused and hope i don't sound like an idiet here.

Am i right in thinking that keyless works by you go up to the car and push the little black button which unlocks the doors and then you have to push it twice when you leave, my only small issue is that it really seems pointless if you have to push the button to lock it as i may as well just use a normal remote key for that. also what happens if you just walk away and dont push the button do i assume it doesn't lock?

Basically im trying to decide if it is worth the £400 and if it isnt il go for the dress up kit, im just a geek and love technology but if its just pointless it isnt worth it, Also iv been told by my ford dealer as my car will be built early september i will have the new sony stereo as standard has anyone else heard about this, iv seen a post on here with a picture and seen the german brochure i just wondered if anyone else knew anything about the new stereo, is it better sound, is the screen the same etc?

Thanks for your help and sorry to be the new idiet.

Anthony.

Get both :D I've ordered my 2nd mk7 Fiesta but this time a Titanium 1.6 petrol with dress up kit, keyless + power button and alloy upgrade. The idea of the keyless entry is so you don't need to fish around for your keys to lock the car. I'm not sure what happens if you walk away without locking, will have to ask somebody who has it.

Thanks mark, i did think about both but im still deciding how much im willing to pay for a "small car" i suppose my girlfriend would love keyless as the never ending tardis known as her handbag is full of contents 2 years old but personally i suppose id only keep my keys in my pocket. Anyone who does have keyless on either fiesta or other ford model able to confirm the operation of the keyless?

I have keyless and it is stunning.

Running out the house (late normally) for sports is great as I no longer have to find the keys in the sports bag. As long as the key is somewhere in the bag I can open the door using the button on the handle (the same way you lock the car) and start using the Power Button too.

It knows if the key is inside or outside the car so you cannot drive off without it (as I tried to once). Well worth the money and is my one upgrade that I can now not do without !

Thanks for that page and thanks for your reply, just a random question, do you instinctivley place your finger on the button to lock and unlock such as when you go to grap the door handle or is it a push the button then open it sort of thing?

It is almost instant. As you grab the handle you push, wait for the click (a millisecond later) and open.

to me it seems quite an expensive option when you could just click the unlock button on your key?

Given that your car key will be with your house keys that you will always carry and you need a "thing" to carry for the keyless entry whats the big deal with keyless entry? and the difference between pressing a button or turning a key? If it were free fine but I personally would never pay extra for it.

Keyless is a cool feature but personally I like pressing the button on the fob before I get to the car and watching the mirrors fold out (yes I am that sad.) However, you definately need to get the dress up kit, it adds so much awesome to the look of the car and I suspect lends a decent amount of its cost to the future resale value of the car.

Think about how many times you take your keys out of your pocket - to open the car and to open the boot.

For me (who while at work always has about a million instrument cases plus briefcase) it's fantastic to not have to put everything down and then get the keys out, open the car and then pick everything up again. Just open the boot, chuck them in, close the boot, open the door and get in.

The location of the button is just where you would expect it to be on the door and as has been said you can pull the door open as you press the button.

The car does not lock as you walk away from it, you have to lock the car with the button, or of course you can bleep it from a distance if you forget. Also, if the car is running, it will continue running if the key is removed from the car - it won't stop.

Oh, and the manual isn't very good on the locking side of things - press the button once to lock it, but again to dead lock it.

Also, if you unlock the car but don't open the door, it will lock itself again after 30 seconds - I think that's the same on the standard locking.

get the dress up make it look nice forget the keyless just lazyness lol

By that logic - we should all walk everywhere. ;)

well maybe but how long does it take to click the unlock button on the key fob?

No time at all - if you have the fob in your hand - the point is that you don't have to - just open the car.

I think it's a bit of a - 'if you want it, cool, if you don't, doesn't matter' kind of thing.

Thanks for all your reply's i appreciate it, it is a hard decision and i wish i could get both but i think its not really about the keyless for me just the power start as i have a real bad tendacy of scratching stuff when i have keys in my hands, i think i may get the keyless and just buy the rear 3 section part bumber/diffuser seperately as that is really the only bit im massively fussed by, anyone know the cheapest place to get this from?

Regards

Anthony

P.S - Andrew L, nice picture, i always wanted an ST but as i'm only 20 and i want 67mpg more that a 2.0 litre i guess il have to settle for my TDCI.

If I was you, I would take a look at all the ZS pics on this forum and compare it to a standard Fiesta. The dress-up kit takes the Fiesta to all new level, it looks fantastic and will add more value to your car. It will also cost you more to add the parts later.

dress up kit would be well better if i was gonna get a mk7 fiesta id defo get dress up think how much a bodykit etc would be to buy paint and fit later?

Factory fit - £550

Dealer fit (just for example) - Around £1,500

dress up kit is well worth it tho keyless is a fancy option no 1 sees it you wouldnt look at a car and think wow thats keyless, tho with a dress up kit you would look n think wow thats nice? just my own opinion tho?
