i had purchased a new ford fiesta WS LX 2010 for only 1wk and i found that everytime when i move into the reverse gear i heard a sound like grrrrrrrr... crunch .. is this a problem ? i had send my car to the dealer and they said both foucs and fiesta all have this problem ..they cant fix it . is this ture ? they just told me a 3sec rules to solve this problem . but i think this must be someting wrong with the gearbox .oooooooooh damn it!!!!! the noice make me inquietude ... can sb help me ? oooooh god ~

Hi NInG, take a look at this topic, hopefully it will explain the problem a little better. It definately is a common problem and can be beaten by holding the clutch down for a few seconds before attempting to select reverse. :)

It was the same with Mk6. Presumably its the same 'bag of spanners' gearbox. You get used it, just like teh rattles.

Its that expensive castrol smx gearbox oil that holds that cheap tin box of cogs together

As already stated, the best tip is to pump the clutch before use of the reverse! Works a treat for me :)

... but the mk7 was supposedly 'designed from scratch'... so all the old bad design decisions should have gone away. maybe the designer got sacked and decided to muck up the gear box as a practical joke on his last day in the office? :D
