Galaxy central locking and windows gone walkabout.

Featured Replies

After some years without any problems the doors and windows on our Galaxy have started playing up. Sometimes, any or all of the doors will lock, some not. They can lock with us in the car or from the outside. They can lock and refuse to unlock. They can refuse to lock. The alarm can be triggered at any of these events. The windows will operate only sometimes.

An RAC man has suggested door and/or body control modules may be faulty.

Anybody had similar problems and can suggest a solution?

Guessing what might be wrong is always expensive and very rarely works first, second or third time.

If you use FORScan software on a windows laptop then you be able to read the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) which will help point you in the direction of the problem.

FORScan (free for windows laptop): https://forscan.org/download.html

vLinker FS (connecting cable): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-vLinker-Adapter-FORScan-MS-CAN/dp/B0952P4MLP

Once you have the DTC's there will be many on here who will be able to help and advise.

Thanks Unofix. I'm good with spanners but not confident about diving into the software, nor buying the kit. We've had a few dry days and everything's back to normal. I've read that several people have had problems with water ingress into the BCM so I'll be having a look at that, armed with a hair dryer, later.

Thanks for your suggestions.
