Ford fiesta ecoboost revving itself

Featured Replies

When I turn my car on the 2016 Ford fiesta ecoboost 1.0 just keeps revving itself even when I put my foot on accelerator itll still Rev itself I took it to a mechanic but he just said it’s been stood for a while Just needs a long drive but after a long journey it is still the same feels like it hardly has any power either as wouldn’t go above 40 on a hill and was barely going 70 on motorway when I take maf sensor off it still revs but not as much as it does with the maf plugged in, there is alot of white smoking coming out the exhaust also and I have just noticed the back box leaking from a corner. Any information would be appreciated thank you

That doesn't sound too good. Has it overheated recently? Is the coolant level dropping? Looks like it might be a head gasket or cracked block.

Not overheating no, coolant not dropping either, id have thought the garage would be easy to diagnose a head gasket issue so I had ruled that out in hopes it would be less drastic

Most of those codes point towards a faulty TPS.

Would it be the throttle body itself or the sensor that’s on the accelerator?

Just replaced both throttle body and accelerator yet car is still the same, the garages do not know what could be wrong with it so I’m stuck at a dead end with this. New code which has popped up is

Code: P132B - Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control A Performance

Additional Fault Symptom:

- Signal Amplitude Less Than Minimum

Status:

  • DTC Maturing - Intermittent at Time of Request
  • Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC
  • Test not complete

Module: Powertrain Control Module

Freeze Frame #1:

LOAD: 44.71 % - Calculated Load Value

  • ECT: 94 °C - Engine coolant temperature
  • RPM: 2795 1/min - Engine Revolutions Per Minute
  • FUELSYS: Closed Loop - Fuel System Status (Open/Closed Loop)

Did you go through the full relearn procedure after changing the parts ?

Dave @DaveT70 will be know how it's done.

Ah no I didn’t know there was a procedure to relearn I had just disconnected the battery before and connected it after

Turn on ignition do not start engine, turn off all accessories, everything, no A/C, fan, radio, etc

Leave ignition on

Disconnect negative battery cable and cover pole so it can't make contact with cable

Disconnect positive battery cable

if the two cables will reach each other touch them together and hold them for about a minute, if they don't reach, jump a cable between the two of them.

MAKE SURE THEY DON'T TOUCH THE BATTERY POLES

Reconnect the positive then the negative battery cables

Ignition off, key out

Close driver's door and make sure all doors closed

ignition on and start engine but

DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE PEDAL at all, no matter how long it takes to start, just crank until it starts

DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE PEDAL and leave the car to idle for about 10 minutes or until the temperature gauge reaches normal

DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE PEDAL turn the air con on and fan

leave the car running for a further minute

Engine off, key out, open and close driver's door.

turn ignition on but do not start engine

gently, but continuously, press the throttle pedal down, all the way, to the bottom, make sure it travels it's full distance

then let go of the pedal really fast

turn ignition off, key out, open and close driver's door

Now you can start engine.

Throttle body will be recalibrated as will throttle pedal
