Hi all, my smax 2012 with sat nav head unit reverse camera stopped or intermittently working, can see full of water, new ones are rediculous prices, has anyone tried these that claim to fit into over number plate area and plug in, will this plug in to our units or suggestions anyone please.

After market cheap reverse cameras (around £20) are not compatible with the factory fitted Ford system.

Is that the head unit I would have in mind? Mines the sat nav unit with SD card hidden behind power button panel on 2012 smax titanium X sport. If so could you advise on what I could do please👍

yes mate thats what mine is

wireless cam off amazon

bypass/ignore the module for it, its not needed

it comes with the yellow RCA connector, so i used a RCA to fakra adapter. both ends need +ve live when in reverse, and hey presto simple as that 🙂

Are you able to let me know which one you purchased please, I'll ask my mate to fit it, where do the lives come from each end? Was it a simple enough job overall

reverse lights are in the tailgate so live off then and ground to bodywork or anywhere that’s ground

inside car I found the fuse for reverse lights and used that as a live and again ground anywhere you can
