2005 Ford Focus 2.0Tdci Sport

Featured Replies

Good Morning guys.

New to this Forum, so please bear with me.

I have a 2005 Ford Focus 2.0Tdci Sport and have an interesting technical challenge. It started with a battery light coming on while driving. Thought it might be the alternator, so stopped and checked voltage. Battery still good at 13 v with car off and 14,4v with car running. Drove a bit further and battery light went off again. Thought nothing off it, but it now seems to happen every time i drive. Battery comes on at some stage, and after 3-5 minutes, goes off. Got the battery tested, and battery shows 100% at a battery center test station. They checked the alternator, and it also seems 100% (unless there is possibly an intermittent issue there?)

In addition to that, i now have random dash lights coming on and ABS / Esp lights faults coming on and going off. It doesn't happen all the time, but possibly as the car heats up. Did some research and thought possibly instrument cluster dry joints. Had the pins re soldered / floated and put the clocks back, but problem persists. Put on a OBD scanner and gave an error (lost coms to BCM). Cleared the fault and it was fine for a day or so, but then Engine light on with Lost comms fault again. In addition to this, i also have random lights on the Dash, every now and then, i lose all dash lights and steering assist failure error in addition to losing actual power steering. Clocks and lights all come back on in a minute or so, so its proving very difficult to pin down what could be causing these issues.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
