Reversing camera

Featured Replies

I am looking to buy a second hand fiesta and wondered if there was a particular year that they started having a reversing camera as standard or an option frequently added.  If anyone knows that would be really helpful,  many thanks.

If you buy a Fiesta of a trim level Titanium X, then there is a 50/50 chance it will have a reverse camera.

Even my 2019 Focus Titanium X did not have a reverse camera, so you need to check the individual car.

Vignale's should all have the camera as standard.

But then you get a worse ride with larger wheels.  Titanium or TitX is probably a better compromise if you can find one with the camera option ticked.

Mark 7.5 Titanium X from 2014 onwards camera came standard. Mark 8 not sure but early ones did (2017- onwards) up to 2019 but will have to check.

Watch the 17" wheels on these trim levels as you only have to look at the kerb and you touch it in my experience.

Hope this helps

Not clear what age Fiesta you're looking at?

On the Mk 7/7.5 (up to 2017) it would be pretty much Titanium or Titanium X. Fairly small screen on those as well.

Mk 8s from 2017 on have a much more useful screen. Cameras were available on Zetec and above as an option (sometimes bundled with rear parking sensors) but again not many as standard - Vignale and some STs - the Titanium X had it at one point.

Its a bit of a nightmare as Ford have added then removed kit throughout the Mk 8s model life, e.g. Titanium was once a high level trim, now it's virtually base with a lot of features removed. As mentioned earlier in the thread, the higher specced cars will tend to have bigger wheels (17" on Mk 7 /7.5, 17 or 18" on Mk 8 ) as that's what many people want.

So all you can do is decide your priorities and check carefully any cars of interest. Dealers sales details do usually show it in their pics on their own or, eg, AutoTraders  websites, as it is a popular option.

It’s also easy to install yourself on the 7.5-8.5 with parts off eBay/Amazon and Forscan. Done it twice now on the MK8 and it works as if it was OEM except the guidelines don’t move with the steering wheel but that’s no biggie.

Hi my 2014 Titanium X didn't have the reversing camera. I fitted it myself. All the info required is on this forum .

I THINK it was standard on my wife's 2018 Active X.  I cant be sure as we purchased it 2nd hand.

@statts, I know what you mean about the 17" wheels.  I put a nice big scratch on the front nearside a week after she picked up the car.  I felt guilty so had it repaired.  4 weeks later she did the same!

Fitted Rimsavers to my three Mk 8 Titanium X. Well worth the money.

That's strange. My mk7.5 Brochure dated Feb 2014 states rear camera was standard on Titanium X and an option on the Titanium. Both require the Sony radio/head unit. On the page before, it also says it's an option on the ST3, but that may have been a mistake.

My Mk 8 Brochure (Jan 2019) states 'Rear View Camera Pack' which includes rear sensors, was standard on Active X, Vignale and ST3. Optional on all models apart from basic Zetec. I have the this pack on my 2018 ST-line X and glad have. I have no idea about later and face-lifted models.

I have a feeling early Mk7s (or 7.5s) had the screen built into the rear view mirror. Is this right or am I thinking of after-market parts?

That's right, factory option was in the mirror. Not the full width either, hence my comment on the screen size.

Yes, I had it on my ST-L X also. At the time rear sensors were £200 and the camera was only another £50. Very handy as it turned out as Mk 8 visibility is not great especially with dark rear glass.

I was pleased the standard camera was not one of the many things that Ford have dropped from the Mk 8.5 ST!

Yes Mark 7 the trim level Centura has built in camera and the screen is in the rear view mirror. Mark 7.5 Titanium X has camera feed in the radio screen. Pictures of both below.

Hope this helps

Yes, you can see why the aftermarket Android head units with a bigger screen are so popular!

Hi, Don’t believe everything Ford say. My Titanium X has a build date according to Etis as 19.02.2014, first registered 26.08.2014. Etis also states ‘Less Camera’.  The data plate on the drivers door frame definitely says Titanium X. As far as the hand book spec is concerned it should also have had Deflation Detection System (DDS) it didn’t. I did activate it with Forscan though. So you need to physically check what is / isn’t fitted.

I think we're all just preaching to the choir !!

Kayley hasn't been back since the original post 🙁

Wasn't all wasted though.  I'd totally forgotten about the mirror display on early Mk7 so that was a nice reminder!

I've still got a Mk 7 brochure showing that option. I wish I'd kept a few more old ones as they come in very handy for trying to resolve queries!
