Featured Replies

Hi does anyone know of any Ford Specialists in Leeds or the West Yorkshire Area? Thanks

More info would help.

Are you looking for help with: Bodywork, Engine, Gearbox, Suspension, Electrics ?

Do you have a particular problem or are you just wanting a standard service ?

Hi Bud thank you for your reply. I've posed several times about the fault I have. My car is keyless and currently the car is not detecting the key. I've narrowed it down to the RFR receiver (Keyless Antenna) but cannot find its location. I've spoken to two ford dealers, read the owners manual, stripped my steering calm and boot appart searching for it and now I've given up. So I'm looking for either a specialist garage or mobile electrian that knows there onions when it comes to mk2.5 focuses. Thanks Jax

Hi Jaker, it might be a good idea to modify your profile details to show what model car you have. At the moment it just says Mk2.5 and since you are posting this in the general Ford forum its not immediately obvious.

The issue could be with the Keyless Aerial or with the Remote Key Module (RKM). Have you used FORScan to check for any faults being logged ?

I'm not 100% certain where the Keyless Aerial is on your car but on many Fords it is located in the head lining just behind the courtesy light.

There's definitely one keyless antenna in the boot on both Mk2.5 & Mk3.  Did you not find it at all?  It's right at the back of the boot, almost at the rear seats, only need to pull the floor carpet out to see it.

I'm not sure if there's a second one in the headlining or possibly under the arm rest on these.

Morning mate. Im still getting to grips with the forums so I'll be sure to update my profile.

There is no power to the car so we are unable to plug in a OBD reader.

I have just found this.. will look into it and post back if any joy.

What do you mean by no power?

If you've still got the original key fob, you can use the emergency key blade in the hidden key barrel to over-ride the keyless issue.

Only problem is if you've got a replacement key fob, they don't always put the proximity chip in the emergency key, as I found out myself!

Hi Tom

Im unable to put the car in ignition so that's why there is no power for a obd to read.  Ive tried to put the key blade in the barrel but no joy, ive even took apart the steering colm in search the rfr.

Ok, there's two different systems here.

The pick-up ring for the proximity chip is around the barrel - that's the thing with the 0682 number on it.  If you've got an original key with a chip in the emergency blade, that should work totally separately from the keyless system.

Hi Tom

I have 2 ford keys [1 Remote and 1 blade] and one spare key I got cut last year when the problem started. I tried several times with both original keys but nothing.

I'd guess that spare doesn't have a chip in the blade - probably just programmed the remote and the keyless parts.

But regardless of that, as you've got two original keys that don't work in the emergency position, that does sound more like a fault with the car rather than the keys.  We can probably also rule out the keyless antenna as it doesn't de-immobilise through the chip & pickup ring either.

I'd say the problem lies with one of the modules.  Either the keyless module or the GEM.

@JW1982 May be able to advise further on this.
